Speedo League (Dec 06)
Ashton finished second in the Minor Division for the second year running after some exiting swimming in the final at Macclesfield. There was a sensational finish to the gala as Ashton won the final race, the open age freestyle relay, by hundredths of a second. Ashton also won the Presidents Trophy. This is awarded to the club taking the following into consideration: The attire and deportment of swimmers on parade: The attire, deportment and discipline of swimmers on poolside and in changing rooms: General sportsmanship: Regard paid to the instructions of the referee and gala director: The attire and conduct of the Team Manager, Coaches and Lane Timekeepers.

Ashton Central on GMR (Dec 06)
Tune in to BBC Radio Manchester 95.1 FM on Tuesday 12 Dec at 8pm when Ashton Central will be featured on GMR's sports programme. There are interviews with Paul Eckersley, Carla Tither and Helen Don-Duncan. You can access GMR on the internet via the BBC web site, FM radio, DAB radio or digital TV.

Channel Swim (Dec 06)
Lisa Orr and Steph Sass will be swimming the channel for charity on 28 Dec. A bit cold for that at this time of year I hear you say! Well they are swimming the channel distance but at Selwyn Jones pool starting at 9am and they expect it take about 7 hours. Please give these two brave swimmers your full support by sponsoring them and perhaps coming down to the pool during the day to give them lots of encouragement. Perhaps you could count a few lengths for them!

Wigan Borough Time Trials (Nov 06)
Ashton won the inaugural Wigan Borough Community Swimming Club Top Club competition. After the 3rd gala in 2006 the final league table was Ashton 2383.5, Wigan 2287.5, Howe Bridge 1632.5, Tyldesley 1531.5, Hindley 611, Atherton 420.

Speedo League Final Round (Nov 06)
The third and final round for 2006 is on Sat 9th Dec. It is at Macclesfield Leisure centre SK10 4AF. Warm-up 6pm for 6.25pm start. 2nd round results and league table.

Club Gala Records (Nov 06)
Carla Tither broke the 11 year age group record (set in 1992) for 50m breast stroke (38.72) and 100 IM (1.17.43). Duncan Cathie broke the 50m fly record (42.78) in the 10 year age group.

Wigan BEST/Swimming Scheme of Excellance Time Trials (Nov 06)

Speedo League News
1st round results and league table. Ashton Central currently lie in first place. The second round takes place on Sat 11th November at Biddulph, warm-up at 6pm.
